About Us
Allegro Chamber Players is a rehearsed ensemble of classically trained soloists who perform on Flute, Violin and Cello, as well as Trumpet and Vocals upon request. We provide elegant music for wedding ceremonies of all kinds, such as Catholic, Jewish, Justice of the Peace, multi-denominational, non-denominational, and “license for the day” officiated. Our specialized services also include receptions and formal concerts, and all clients receive access to our preferred vendor list. Allegro Chamber Players offers extensive selections that range from the Baroque and Classical Periods to modern popular music. As an ensemble that has performed in New England since 1995, we do not double book our services, ensuring that all clients receive those fine musicians who comprise our group. Our Artistic Director
Michael Monte
Michael Monte, Artistic Director of the Allegro Chamber Players, received his Bachelors Degree in Music Education with emphasis on woodwind performance from the University of Lowell in 1981 with graduate studies at Rhode Island College. While at Lowell, he studied woodwinds with Professor Anthony Fullginitti, Professor David Martins, and Professor Donald Bravo. Michael is currently on the Adjunct Faculty of the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth Music Department.
Michael's performance credentials include performing on stage in the orchestras of Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Robert Goulet, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Connie Francis, Maureen McGovern, Rita Moreno, Milton Berle, Bernadette Peters, and Al Martino. Based out of New England, Michael has performed professionally all over, including Hawaii, Canada, and Portugal.
In addition to being the Artistic Director of the Allegro Chamber Players, Michael is currently a member of the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra's woodwind section. Michael is an active freelance performer throughout the Greater New England area specializing in Woodwind Performance. Other local performances include the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, Southeastern Massachusetts Pops Orchestra, Fall River Symphony, New Bedford Symphony, Marion Concert Band, plus various professional performances at the Providence Performing Arts Center, Tanglewood (Lennox, MA), Veterans Memorial Auditorium (Providence), Warwick Theater, Plymouth Memorial Hall, Barnstable Performing Arts Center, Ziterion Theater (New Bedford, MA), and Great Woods (Mansfield, MA).
Aside from Michael's weekly educational/performance schedule, he keeps an active schedule of studio lessons providing woodwind instruction. His private students have consistently auditioned successfully for: All State, All New England, and All Eastern Music Festivals. From 1982 through 1996, Michael was an adjudicator for the M. M. E. A.'s Southeastern Massachusetts Junior and Senior District Festivals plus the R. I. M. E. A. Junior and Senior All State Festivals. Michael's Educational Conducting credits include Guest Conductor for the Upper Connecticut Valley Junior Band Festival (Chester, VT) and the R.I.M.E.A. Junior All State Jazz Band (East Providence, RI).
